What Key External Factors Hurt Restaurant Sales?

There are several key factors that hurt restaurant sales and decrease customer traffic. Primary external factors include, but are not limited to, time-of-day, day-of-week, month of the year, seasonal changes, holidays or events, and daily weather. Research shows that each of these changes is known to have a substantial impact on the day-to-day flucuation of a restaurant's bottom-line.

This research study, conducted by the Bluesky Local team, quantifies the extent to which this is a problem. The survey was conducted over a period of four months and involved 244 restaurants from across the U.S. An example of some of the data gathered from the survey is presented in the chart to the right. One of the key take-aways of the study was that the average restaurant was estimated to be losing $30,000 in potential revenue due to the sales impact of these factors beyond their control.

Bluesky Local has developed a web-based solution to this problem that works to minimize the impact that these factors on a restaurant's daily sales via automated marketing with coupons.
